Republican debate on CNN (11/28/07)
CNN did a good job of planting lots of Democrats in the audience at the Republican debate last night. they also did a good job picking YouTube video questions that no Republican would ask. Like the question from the Gay General that works for Hillary Clinton. Nice.
Not that the Republicans flinched. They seem much more prepared than the Democratic contenders who prance around questions like a cat on a hot tin roof. Is it just me or do Republicans just seem more Presidential? lol OK, it's just me.
anyhow, only democrats would 'boo' answers given by somebody like John McCain. He may have low poll numbers, but he still has the highest credibility.
CNN sucks.

Re: Republican debate on CNN (11/28/07)
Romney skewered Guiliani in the first 5 minutes. That had me hooked. Romney came off as the sharpest - the best debater.
McCain came off as the most experienced in terms of foreign affairs. He might make a good VP. He's too 'tired' to be President.
Huckabee who is the rising star came off a little bland I thought. He doesn't project charisma (not sure if that's the right word, maybe determination and forcefulness) the way Romney does. I have to say, I was most impressed with Romney, as a President has to have black and white convictions. And make those convictions crystal clear. After all, you can't please everybody, so just be able to explain yourself clearly. And also admit when you are wrong (which Romny is practicing).
Fred Thompson came off a bit sneaky with his attack ad against Huckabee and Romney - but it was no worse than what they can expect from the Democrats. Huckabee needs to convince Republicans he can keep taxes low; Romney that he is more pro-life. I think Republicans (Like me) are more concerned with keeping taxes low - I'm all for pro-choice. Abolishing Roe vs. Wade means girls use coat hangers to perform abortions on themselves, and we don't want to go back to those days.
Ron Paul reminds me of Egor. Every time he starts ranting about Iraq it sounds just like Egor. Irritating. lol

I thought that Romney was letting his emotions out a little bit too much. Or it could have been on purpose just to provoke Guliani. He did a good job if so. And I liked Huckabee, but, yes, he didn't make the impression of being strong (or maybe the word is tough?)

Re: Republican debate on CNN (11/28/07)
So where did green minstrey go?
Anyway, lots of progress since the 11/28 debate.
It's McCain on the Republican side.
It will be some variation of Obama/Clinton or Clinton/Obama on the democrat side.
You better hope Obama wins.
As for me, a Republican, I have decided not to vote this election (except as a last resort). I have finally had enough of those establishment f*ckers. I 'might' vote for McCain if Hillary wins, just cuz I hate her. But if Obama wins, I'll sit it out. Go Obama. lol
Either way, I don't think Republicans can win with so many of us sitting this out, even in the primaries, because we have finally realized how bad things have become. I don't regret voting for Bush - I take responsibility for all who have died cuz of my votes (yeah, Egor, I'm glad we went over and kicked ass). But now that our house (the USA) is in shambles, we need a change. Frankly, I'd rather we cut the defense budget until we get our deficits fixed. ANd if some terrorist sets off a dirty bomb? Cheaper do just nuke the offending countries than nation-build again. The last 2 years have exhausted even me.

lol... I seem to recall telling Egor, on more than one occasion, that he is really a Libertarian.
I must have missed this post the first time around.
Ron Paul is good. I used to quote him fairly often during forum debates. He is certainly the only "republican" I would consider....

Re: Republican debate on CNN (11/28/07)
Yeah, I always say the same thing, 412, but was kinda hoping no one else thinks this way. No one would vote in most states! :)
Plus I want more discrepencies between electoral and popular votes, once we can get a few in a row, the system may actually get fixed :) So look at it this way - you could be helping with that by voting against your state's trend.

I actually agree with JB on this one, except for the nuking part...

Re: Republican debate on CNN (11/28/07)
The nuking part is prob the most harmless part of what he said. Bc its impossible, unless a situation presents itself where even you support it.
James, since you directed a comment at me personally, I'll just say this - there are people who sacrificed for this, and to those people I direct zero criticism. What's always bothered me about "we kicked ass", is not only the fact that you sacrificed nothing and watched Americans/Iraqis die on TV for some dubious rewards that are becoming more and more difficult to verbalize as time goes on, the least dubious one being your pride of some sort, but you don't even want to pay for it (would be the easy way out and still can call yourself a patriot). That's all.

Re: Republican debate on CNN (11/28/07)
These soldiers were not enlisted against their will; they volunteered because they felt a certain sense of duty. No, we are not out there with them, and there is no justifying their deaths. However, they were ready to die for what they believed in. We may not be, but their deaths are in vain unless we support what they believed in and what they stood for...

I don't think you liberals and democrats really understand how we view things. In fact, I know it. So let me s-p-el-l it out for you.
The reason we want to stay in Iraq, as long as it takes, is to avoid a Vietnam. Most Democrats hear the phrase "stay in Iraq" and the really don't understand how that can be good. We MUST bring our soldiers home TODAY. Even one more day is HORRIBLE. What would be horrible is leaving before achieving the objectives. and frankly, I'm not sure any of us REALLY know what those objectives are. Hell, maybe it is to control Iraqi oil. Maybe it is to be next to Iran to keep them in check. Maybe it's a whole lot of things that we aren't smart enough to know about. But I do know this: the US Gov't is way smarter than Egor or anybody else on this forum. How do I know that? Cuz I have 2 MBA, many years of experience and failed both the CIA and Foreign Service exam. I enjoy listening to Egor and 412 expound upon why the US gov't is sooooo stupid but at the end of the day, the folks that are actually doing the decision making are way more intelligent than anybody on this stupid ass forum. sorry, just being truthful.
Anyway, I got accepted to West Point but failed the physical. However, everybody else in my family has served in WWII, Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, Darfur (as we speak), and so on...
No other country has sacrified so much blood to take so little land for others. We only take as much land in foreign lands as we need to give back freedom, and bury our dead.
